Train your mind trough memory games: the 7 benefits.

Train your mind trough memory games: the 7 benefits.

Educators and psicologist always talk about the importance of play for the mental development of our children, and I truly believe we should never stop playing. Saldy at some point in our lifes, we stop giving it the importance to taking the time to play and enjoy ourselves doing simple joyful activities like puzzling or boardgames during all our lives.

Play should be part of your life, and I am going to tell you why:

Staying cognitively active is a very important part of taking care of your brain. Mental activity helps us increase cognitive reserve to compensate for the effects of brain aging and alterations typical of diseases such as Alzheimer's.

Memory games for adults are a stimulating and fun resource to “train” our cognitive abilities.

What debilitates our cognitive habilities?

  • Social causes: Loneliness and isolation is a determining factor that directly affects the cognitive abilities of the individual. In a society where many people live alone, with minimal interaction with others, their capabilities are diminished, as the possibilities of interaction decrease.
  • Psychological causes: we live in an fast pased world, surrounded by stress, multitasking, first world problems... which make more and more people with problems such as anxiety, depression and which directly affect memory loss in the future. Psychological problems are as important as physical problems and are the cause of cognitive deficits in many individuals, no matter their age.
  • Personal causes: the physiological and cognitive changes that occur as we age also translate into loss of neurons, sight, hearing, and gradual degeneration of memory and other brain skills.

There are many tasks that can be developed to put cognitive stimulation into practice, such as: reading and writing, journaling, numerical calculation, orientation, recognition of sounds and music, images, objects and shapes through touch, language, attention-concentration, copying drawings and making crafts.

Of course, in latitonta we work in developing games and activities that will help you keep your cognitive habilities while having fun and enjoying the colorful designs.

Here some of the benefits that playing memory games provide:

  • They activate the brain and cognitive skills.
  • They improve concentration.
  • It helps preserve memory both in the short, medium and long term.
  • They serve as a means for some medical and psychological treatments.
  • They promote social contact and communication.
  • Increases the self-esteem and autonomy of the elderly.
  • Ultimately, it improves your quality of life.

And our favorite part, is that you get to spend time with family and friends creating memories together.
